Re: Anyone have experience getting used to a standing desk?

People who stand up at their jobs all day and aren't used to standing all day experience discomfort until they're used to standing all day. They can't ease into it, but I'm sure they would if they...

Re: Anyone have experience getting used to a standing desk?

I have a desk at work that can be raised and lowered. I prefer to stand for about half of my day. I'm on the phone all day so I get very little exercise at work. I can do squats and lunges while...

Re: Anyone have experience getting used to a standing desk?

Re: Anyone have experience getting used to a standing desk?

I think there is a difference between walking all day and standing all day but it's possible to do either one when you have to. I don't sit at work but I walk around so it's ok. When I had to stand in...

Re: Anyone have experience getting used to a standing desk?

I think there's a difference between standing and walking all day, too. There's more pressure on the balls of your feet when you're stationary. When I worked retail, I much preferred to be on the...

Heather and Kim, thanks for the input. Glad to hear our small group doesn't have more stories to tell about bad backs etc than I've already found by googling, lol. I'm beginning to suspect that part...

Re: Anyone have experience getting used to a standing desk?

good luck. If cost is an issue, I imagine it would be cheaper to get a full-time standing desk instead of one that raises and lowers, if that would work for you. One thing I could see being an issue...

Re: Anyone have experience getting used to a standing desk?

I would think you'd have to ease into going from sitting in a chair all day to standing all day. And I wouldn't compare standing in one spot in front of a computer, to a job where people may stand but...

Re: Anyone have experience getting used to a standing desk?

No one is saying they are the same thing, people are saying if you're in decent shape it shouldn't be too strenuous to stand for the day even if you used to sit. I think if you do need an adjustment...

Re: Anyone have experience getting used to a standing desk?

I'm in decent shape (walk 5-8 miles a day, lift 3x a week) and I think I'd still need to ease into standing all day. I'm not used to standing around a lot.
